At least two billion people consume water contaminated by faeces every day, putting them at the mercy of deadly diseases like diarrhoea, cholera, typhoid, and polio. Moreover, water supply systems everywhere are ceaselessly challenged by pollution, climate change, population explosion, and urbanization.
